Deutschland im Kriegsjahr 1915: Als vermeintlicher Überläufer geht der Brite Geoffrey Richter-Douglas an Bord der "LZ 36", um die Geheimwaffe vom Himmel zu holen. Der Zeppelin-Prototyp gleitet so hoch, daß keine Bombe ihn treffen kann. Tatsächlich entpuppt sich ein Testflug als Feindfahrt Richtung Schottland.
